OccupellasThe “Occupella Chorus” raises awareness of occupy issues using song. We formed in December, 2011 when we sang reworded Christmas carols at Horton Plaza, Mission Valley mall and outside Civic Center Theater for audiences. During one of our performances, an occupier labeled us the "Occupellas," and the name stuck. The Occupella Chorus officially debuted on January 7, 2012 when we sang outside the Civic Center. Since that time we have appeared all over San Diego County and have garnered much positive media attention. Our talented women not only sing, but many write our own songs. Look for an upcoming songbook of Occupella songs in the future.We welcome new performers, song writers, and suggestions for performances, but keep in mind it is a commitment with guidelines to ensure the integrity of our songs and performances.
